Far-out Japanese comedy drama. In the 1970s, a failing punk band record a song called 'Fish Story', stealing the title from a poorly translated novel, little knowing that their forgotten slice of genius will one day, 37 years in the future, be instrumental in saving the world from total destruction by a giant comet.

F.W. Murnau's classic silent version of the German folk story. Faust Gosta Ekman is an alchemist and scholar who becomes an unwitting pawn in a wager made between the demon Mephisto Emil Jannings and the Archangel Michael Werner Fuetterer. Mephisto sends a plague upon Faust's village, and Faust manages to find a cure, but only after entering into a terrrible bargain which could see his soul damned forever. Mephisto then tempts Faust with eternal youth and the love of the beautiful Gretchen Camilla Horn, but the scholar continues to struggle with his fate.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa directs this Japanese fantasy drama. The film follows piano teacher Mizuki Eri Fukatsu as she is reunited with her husband Yusuke Tadanobu Asano who was lost at sea and presumed dead three years ago. Yusuke, however, makes it clear the return of his spirit is only temporary and takes his wife on a cross-country journey to show her all of the beautiful places he's visited on his long voyage home. Yusuke also introduces his wife to some of the other spirits he has met along the way who share their experiences of the afterlife and their regrets about their time spent alive on Earth with the couple.

In 1870s America, relations between whites and the Apaches are at an all-time low, with the latter treated unfairly by the frontiersmen. The result is bitter warfare, but there seems to be a hope of peace when Apache sympathiser Tom Jeffords James Stewart is called upon to negotiate a treaty with the Native American chief, Cochise Jeff Chandler. A truce is called, and the two men become firm friends. The new status quo is threatened, however, when Jeffords, his Indian wife Debra Paget and Cochise are attacked by renegades.

As they learn to adapt to life in the fashionable city, she and her friends quickly find themselves swept up by an endless cycle of parties, new friendships and romantic liaisons.

Anton Walbrook and Diana Wynyard star in this classic British thriller based on Patrick Hamilton's play. After Alice Barlow Marie Wright is murdered in her own home by a thief seeking her priceless jewels the house lays empty for 20 years until the arrival of newly-weds Paul and Bella Mallen Walbrook and Wynyard. Although he tries to divert his wife's attention away from his suspicious behaviour by convincing her she's going mad, Paul uses gaslights to search the house's closed upper floors for Alice's hidden jewels during the night. As B.G. Rough Frank Pettingell, a detective from the original, unsolved murder case, becomes increasingly suspicious of Paul, he suspects him of hiding a sinister past identity...

Teenage bongo player Bert Rudge Richard is plucked from obscurity and thrust into musical stardom after being discovered performing in an espresso coffee shop by talent agent Johnny Jackson Laurence Harvey. After being renamed Bongo Herbert, Bert is given a record deal and a relationship with American singer Dixie Yolande Donlan. But after realising he's being exploited by Jackson, Bert tries to get out of his unfavourable contract with Dixie's help.

Triple bill of documentary-style BBC dramas from film-maker Ken Russell. Made for the arts programme 'Monitor', 'Elgar' 1962 dramatises the life of English composer Sir Edward Elgar George McGrath and tells the story of his music in a series of visualisations. 'The Debussy Film' 1965, which was also made for the 'Monitor' programme, chronicles the life of French composer Claude Debussy Oliver Reed. Meanwhile, a director Vladek Sheybal struggles to make his own film about Debussy's life. Made for the 'Omnibus' arts series, 'Song of Summer' 1968 depicts the last five years of Frederick Delius Max Adrian's life as the devoted, young composer Eric Fenby Christopher Gable aids him in completing his final, unfinished scores.

Don Sharp directs this cult British horror. Tom Latham Nicky Henson, who heads up the motorcycle gang 'The Living Dead', makes a pact with the devil to achieve immortality. Tom convinces the rest of the gang to end their lives in the hopes of coming back as indestructible tormentors to society. With help from Tom's satanist mother, the group agree to kill themselves at the same time, believing they will be granted immortality if they all really believe in it. Some of the gang fail in their quest but others are resurrected as Satan's undead minions, eager to cause chaos in their town.

Biopic about the life and works of Afro-French psychiatrist Frantz Fanon, portrayed by Colin Salmon. Fanon was heavily involved in anti-colonial movements throughout his life, from his native Martinique to Algeria and throughout the world as he grew increasingly frustrated with the oppression of black people. Despite fighting with the French resistance in the Second World War, after qualifying as a psychiatrist and moving to Algeria, Fanon joined the battle to free the African country from French rule, continuing to do so when he was later exiled to Tunisia. This is an account of his life's work, documented in interviews, archival footage and dramatic reconstructions of key events.

Abel Gance directs this French drama remake of the 1919 silent film of the same name. Having witnessed first-hand the horror and destruction of the First World War, scientist Jean Diaz Victor Francen is determined to never allow the world to be consumed by such chaos again. To this end he develops a device which he is confident will eliminate warfare forever. However, as the governments of the world begin gearing up for yet another all-consuming conflict, Diaz's device is used as just another weapon of war. Furious at the misuse of his machine and the sheer ignorance of those in power, Diaz turns to more unorthodox measures in order to make his point.

Satirical drama directed by Maurice Hatton and starring Charles Gormley and Neville Smith. Charlie Gormley and Neville Smith are a directing and scriptwriting partnership searching for the funding and the staff required to make their envisioned film, 'Gulf and Western', a reality. The pair root around among the attendees at the 1977 Edinburgh Film Festival in hopes of finding someone who will help them and there they encounter such film pioneers as Wim Wenders, Stephen Frears, John Boorman and Alan Bennett.

Director Kon Ichikawa's celebrated melodrama tells the story of Yukinojo, a female impersonator in the kabuki theatre who uses his acting skills to take revenge on three men who forced his parents to commit suicide. Seducing the daughter of one, and ruining another with a cunning business plan, Yukinojo soon has his enemies exactly where he wants them. Starring Kazuo Hasegawa in the lead role, the film sets stylised images against a score which ranges from cocktail jazz to traditional Japanese music.

Salmaan Peerzada stars in this drama by film-maker Jamil Dehlavi about the life and death of Hussain Peerzada, the youngest member of a Pakistani family. When Hussain meets a holy soothsayer who tells him that he is destined to lead the poor to a better life, he endeavours to make the prophecy come true but will the government stand in his way The cast also includes Kika Markham, Durriya Kazi and Kabuli Baba.

Rock musical directed by Milos Forman charting the American counterculture movement of the 1960s that opposed the Vietnam War, starring John Savage and Treat Williams. Having been drafted by the Army naive farm hand Claude Bukowski Savage makes his way to New York where he encounters a commune of hippies, led by the charismatic George Berger Williams, who discourage him from enlisting and expose him to an alternative lifestyle. However, Claude finds himself struggling to identify fully with the differing ideologies competing for his attention and his feelings for wealthy Sheila Beverly D'Angelo lead to further apprehension.

Noir horror written and directed by John Parker. Set in Los Angeles' Skid Row, the film follows a woman, the Gamin Adrienne Barrett, as she leaves her downtrodden hotel room and wanders the streets, becoming involved in several violent altercations as she also recalls her troubled upbringing.

Marlon Brando stars as a paralysed war veteran who returns home for rehabilitation, only to discover that he will never walk again. Bitter and hostile, he refuses to see his fiancee Teresa Wright, who struggles to help him come to terms with his condition.

British silent movie from writer-director Anthony Asquith. Set in 1920s London, the story follows two men, Bill Brian Aherne and Bert Cyril McLaglen, who fall for the same woman, Nell Elissa Landi, after they encounter her on the Underground. Bill wins her affections but Bert has a nasty streak and is unwilling to let Nell's rejection go.

Alfred Hitchcock directed this adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier novel - his last British film - before leaving for Hollywood and a contract with David O. Selznick. Young orphan Mary Maureen O'Hara arrives in 18th century Cornwall to live with her Uncle Joss Leslie Banks, the landlord of Jamaica Inn. After finding work as a barmaid, Mary discovers that Joss commands a band of pirates who smuggle contraband from wrecked ships. Mary is further unnerved by the ever-present Justice of the Peace, Sir Humphrey Pengallan Charles Laughton.

Willem Dafoe and William L. Petersen star in this crime drama co-written and directed by William Friedkin. The film follows reckless FBI agent Richard Chance Petersen as he hunts elusive counterfeiter Eric Masters Dafoe. After learning Masters has murdered his partner in cold blood, Chance vows to do whatever it takes to get his man. Dragging new recruit John Vulkovich John Pankow with him, the pair set out on a dangerous pursuit through the murky backstreets of Los Angeles.

Exploitation horror from Italian director Lucio Fulci in which a series of murders in a small Sicilian town bring its inhabitants under suspicion. With the police baffled by the strangulation of a preadolescent boy, newspaper reporter Andrea Martelli Tomas Milian begins an amateur investigation into the murder. A number of suspects present themselves Patrizia Barbara Bouchet, a socialite hiding out in the town until a drugs scandal blows over Maciara Florinada Bolkan, a beautiful young woman who dabbles in black magic and Giuseppe Vito Passeri, the town outsider. As the body count begins to rise, can Andrea get to the bottom of the scandal before yet more lives are lost

Japanese anime feature directed by Seiji Kishi. After seven years away from school Nagisa Mai Fuchigami and Karma Nobuhiko Okamoto return and recount their classroom experiences. As they reminisce they realise that they would not be the same people were it not for the impact and influence of their seminal teacher Koro-sensei Jun Fukuyama.

Japanese children's animation in which a genius in-the-making inventor named Ray Steam Anna Paquin is given an obscure metal sphere containing a new form of energy, which is capable of producing enough power for an entire nation. This energy must be used to defeat evil and save Victorian London from potential annihilation.

The Duc de Richleau Christopher Lee is concerned by the disappearance of his young friend Simon Patrick Mower from the social scene. Accompanied by former army colleague Rex Leon Greene, de Richleau discovers that Simon has joined a group of Devil worshippers, led by the evil Mocata Charles Gray. Through de Richleau's attempts to wrest Simon from Mocata's influence, Rex becomes romantically involved with Tanith, another member of the cult.

1970s Hammer horror. A girl's finishing school in Transylvania has its ranks swollen by the enrolment of the beautiful Mircalla Karnstein Yutte Stensgaard. English author Richard Lestrange Michael Johnson falls for her seductive yet lethal charms, for Mircalla is a vampire and Richard has to save her from the wrath of his fellow villagers, whilst protecting himself against her deadly kiss.

Featuring footage from over 20 shows and festivals across Europe, Gabriel plays a number of hits including 'Games Without Frontiers', 'Solsbury Hill', 'Sledgehammer' and 'White Ashes'. Also included is a selection of behind-the-scenes footage, filmed by Anna Gabriel, which provides an intimate picture of family life on the road. In addition, Gabriel's 2003 performance from the Fila Forum in Milan is also featured.
