Japanese animated feature co-written and directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi. Japanese-American animated feature directed by Goro Miyazaki. When orphan Earwig voice of Taylor Paige Henderson is adopted by a witch named Bella Yaga Vanessa Marshall she is far from happy as her life at the orphanage allows her to do as she pleases. In her new home Earwig is put to work and when Yaga reveals that she is a witch Earwig expresses her desire to learn magic from her. However, when Yaga refuses to share any magic tricks with Earwig the precocious girl decides to take matters into her own hands and attempts to redress the balance of power in the home.
