First of the Ealing comedies. A bunch of crooks use a comic paper, featuring stories penned by Felix H. Wilkinson Alastair Sim, to pass on coded messages for robberies. When the comic's readership, a bunch of East End boys, discover what's going on they go to the police. The local constabulary, however, are no help, and so the plucky lads set out to foil the robbers themselves.

As Charlie attempts to win his wife back, his explosive temper soon threatens to undo all his good work.

Powerful drama about loyalties and the industrial workplace in early 60s Britain. Factory worker Tom Arnold Richard Attenborough does not share the same feelings as his fellow workers in a developing industrial dispute and refuses to go on strike with them. This results in him being 'sent to Coventry' by all concerned, including his best friend Joe Wallace Michael Craig. The newspapers soon hear about this and the story becomes a matter of national concern, with many different parties trying to use Tom's stance to their own ends.

A small-time smuggler finds himself in over his head in this gritty crime drama directed by Basil Dearden. Wisecracking merchant seaman Dan MacDonald Bonar Colleano makes ends meet by dabbling in a spot of petty smuggling in post WWII London. But his life quickly changes when he's framed by a gang of jewel thieves after a robbery in the city. Now, with his best mate Johnny Earl Cameron in the dock for murder, Dan must put his life on the line to prove his friend's innocence.

Kuroda Toshiro Mifune, a samurai warrior, is accompanying a Japanese diplomat to the US. They are carrying a golden, jewel-encrusted sword to present as a token of goodwill to the president, however they are ambushed by two outlaws - Gauche Alain Delon and Link Charles Bronson. When Gauche double-crosses Link and keeps the sword for himself, Link joins forces with Kuroda to return the sword to its rightful owner.

Carol Reed's award-winning adaptation of Graham Greene's short story told primarily from a child's perspective. Philippe Bobby Henrey is the young son of a diplomat and he idolises Baines Ralph Richardson, his father's butler. When Baines' wife is found murdered and Baines is implicated, Philippe tries everything to point the investigation away from the butler. In doing so he makes matters worse and also discovers that his hero is not the man he thought he was.

Kitchen sink drama directed by Ken Loach. Young mother Joy Carol White is forced to fend for herself when her brutal and uncaring husband, Tom John Bindon, is put in jail. Joy finds brief happiness with Tom's criminal associate Dave Terence Stamp, who proves kind and gentle when she moves in with him, but this relationship ends when he is also jailed, and Joy is left to raise her young son alone in squalid circumstances.

Leslie Norman directs this British wartime drama which tells two sides of the Dunkirk story. British Corporal 'Tubby' Binns John Mills finds himself responsible for getting his men back to Britain from the Dunkirk beaches, after their commanding officer is killed and they become separated from the rest of the Allied Forces. Meanwhile, civilian reporter Charles Foreman Bernard Lee follows the build-up to the eventual evacuation of British and French troops from the beaches of Dunkirk. The cast also includes Richard Attenborough, Robert Urquhart and Ray Jackson.
